The City of El Dorado has adopted the following codes to regulate construction within the city:
2006 International Building Code including Appendix Chapters C, E, F, H, I, J
Amendments:
All structures with a floor area of more than 60 square feet require a building permit.
All fences require a building permit.
Building Official can set time limit for any permit.
All structures must be anchored to the ground to meet the requirements of the code.
Wood sill plates must be naturally durable or preservative treated wood.
2006 International Residential Code including Appendix Chapters E, G, H, J, K, M
Amendments:

Seismic Design Category: A
Weathering: Severe
Frost Line Depth: 30 inches
Termite: Moderate to Heavy

2006 International Existing Building Code
Amendments:
Repairs, alterations, and additions to structures that are covered under the scope of the 2006 International Residential Code shall be in accordance with the 2006 International Residential Code as adopted by the City of El Dorado
Building Official can set time limit for any permit.

2006 Uniform Plumbing Code
Amendments:
If there are conflicts between this code and other codes adopted by the City of El Dorado, the Building Official shall have the authority to determine if both codes are acceptable.
Permit and plan review fees shall be assessed in accordance with the Municipal Code.
Plastic pipe can be tested with air.
Code clarification: 316.1.6 PVC pipe and fittings shall be cleaned and joined with primer and solvent cement. ONE STEP CEMENT IS NOT ALLOWED!!!
2006 Uniform Mechanical Code
Amendments:
If there are conflicts between this code and other codes adopted by the City of El Dorado, the Building Official shall have the authority to determine if both codes are acceptable.
Ducts or plenums located in unconditioned crawl spaces below conditioned spaces are not required to be insulated.
2008 National Electric Code
Amendments:
Interior nonmetallic sheathed cable shall be secured by insulated fasteners, insulated staples, cable ties or straps.
GFCI protection is not required for a sump pump or sewage ejector pump if connected to a single receptacle supplied by a dedicated branch circuit.
AFCI protection is required at dwelling unit bedrooms only.
The NEC does not address unfused service cable inside the house. See Building Official for service entrance requirements as established by the City of El Dorado.
