Criminal Investigation Section (CIS)

 

 

The El Dorado Police Department Criminal Investigation Section currently has 3 Detectives assigned, with a fourth detective starting in 2010. Detective Sergeant Chad Young is the lead detective followed by Detective Maggie Schreiber and Detective John Stewart.

 

          Investigations is tasked with investigating child sex crimes, felony person and property crimes, undercover drug investigations, maintaining custody and control of all evidence, and assisting the patrol division, when needed, on larger crime scenes. Investigators also serve search warrants on a large portion of their cases. Investigators assigned to CIS rotate a call out schedule beyond normal working hours. All investigators are subject to call out on major crimes. Once a fourth detective is assigned, each investigator will be tasked with working specific types of crimes.

 

          Investigations has incorporated the new “E-Merchant Alert Program” and “Nixle”. The E-Merchant Alert Program is a program designed to assist in protecting local merchants from becoming victims of criminal activity. El Dorado Merchants may contact CIS with an e-mail address. This e-mail address will then be assigned to a contact list and pertinent information can be e-mailed to this contact list when necessary.   

 

          “Nixle” is a National Night Out sponsored program. Similar to the E-Merchant Program, this is designed to be used by ALL citizens with e-mail or texting capabilities. Police Officer's Prayer to St. Michael

Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police,
who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises
of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional
eyes on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for
investigation and wise judgment.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and
law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores,
strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.

You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences
with the devil that the police officer's lot on earth is not
always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so
pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the
devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.

And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your
heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the
throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all
the people. Amen
