El Dorado Police Department

Administration

The Chief of Police, who is appointed by the City Manager, leads the El Dorado Police Department. The Chief of Police is responsible for planning and overseeing the department’s budget, and also is responsible for the overall supervision of the department.

The Deputy Chief of Police assists the Chief of Police with administrative duties, and is responsible for supervising the service, patrol, and criminal investigation sections.

The El Dorado Police Department Patrol Division is composed of four five-man details that work 12-hour shifts. A Patrol Captain, who is assisted by a Patrol Sergeant, supervises each detail. Each detail has three beat officers who are responsible for patrolling a prescribed geographical area of the city. The beat officers are responsible for proactive and preventive patrol, criminal investigations, calls for service, and community policing activities within their beats.

The Service Division and the Criminal Investigation Division support the Patrol Division.
