The mayor shall be selected in the manner and for the term of office as provided by Charter Ordinance No. 6 of the city, and shall serve as chairperson of the board of commissioners, and have the title of mayor during his or her term of office to the end that the city shall have an official head on formal occasions. The mayor shall have such other duties as shall be imposed upon that office by the laws of Kansas, which shall not be inconsistent with the city manager form of government. (Prior code § 1-203)
