In the event of a disaster or emergency when there is a request for assistance from an outside entity, if the city can provide assistance without unduly jeopardizing the protection of its own community, then this chapter authorizes the city manager, police and fire chiefs or their designees, to provide such assistance as may be authorized under Kansas law and pursuant to mutual aid agreements, with all of the privileges and immunities provided for therein (K.S.A. 12-16, 117).
