5.08.050 Transient vendors.

A. Any person, firm or corporation that performs door-to-door sales or sells any type of product or service from any type of vehicle, wagon, trailer, or stand within the city limits shall be known as a transient vendor. Transient vendors shall obtain a permit from the city clerk before performing sales. The permit shall be subject to the following requirements:

1. Application processing may take up to twenty-four (24) hours to perform background checks and verify sales tax information, before permit may be issued;

2. Upon application, the vendor shall provide a copy of its sales tax certificate;

3. A daily permit fee of fifty dollars ($50.00) or a yearly permit fee of five hundred dollars ($500.00) shall be paid to the city clerk; and

4. Those in charge of festivals/special events shall be responsible to make sure that vendors are complying with this section by obtaining the necessary permit and collecting sales tax.

B. Any transient vendor that shall have a vehicle, wagon, trailer, or stand set up at a location shall comply with the requirements of Section 5.08.055 Temporary Place of Business.

C. The city manager shall have the authority to exempt any vendor from any of the above requirements. (Ord. G-1026 § 1, 2008: Ord. G-919 §§ 1—3, 2002)
