5.20.020 License--Application.

A. Any promoter desiring to secure a license under the provisions of this chapter shall make a verified application therefor, in duplicate, both of which shall be filed with the city clerk. Such application shall contain:

1. The name and business address of the applicant;

2. The date, time and place when the professional boxing or wrestling event will be held;

3. A statement that the promoter is a bona fide patriotic, benevolent, fraternal or religious organization or local unit thereof, which organization has been in existence and has been meeting at regular intervals during the entire year immediately preceding the application for the license.

B. Such application shall be accompanied by a license fee in the amount of fifty dollars ($50.00).

C. One copy of such application shall be immediately transmitted by the city clerk to the chief of police of the city for investigation of the applicant. It shall be the duty of the chief of police to investigate the applicant. It shall be the duty of the chief of police to investigate the applicant to determine whether it is a qualified licensee under the provisions of this chapter. He or she shall report to the governing body of the city not later than the second regular meeting of the governing body of the city subsequent to the receipt by the city clerk of such application.
