5.28.040 License--Application--Investigation.

When any such application is made and filed in accordance with the requirements of Section 5.28.020 of this chapter, it shall be by the city clerk referred to the police chief who shall use all reasonable and necessary means to check the statements made in said application for truth and accuracy and after such investigation the city clerk shall have the power to grant or reject any such application or applications. If such application is approved by the city clerk as provided in this section, the city clerk shall grant the applicant a license to operate the vehicle designated in said application upon the payment of the license fees and compliance with the insurance requirements provided in this chapter.
