13.16.030 Private wastewater disposal.

A. Existing private wastewater disposal systems serving a property not located within one hundred (100) feet of a public sewer shall be allowed to be operated and maintained at the owner's expense, until such time as a public sewer service is available.

B. At such time as a public sewer becomes available to a property served by a private wastewater disposal system, a direct connection shall be made to the public wastewater collection system in compliance with this chapter. Any septic tanks, cesspools, and similar private wastewater disposal facilities shall be cleaned and filled according to subsection (C) of this section.

C. When a public sewer becomes available, the building sewer shall be connected to the sewer within sixty (60) days. The private wastewater disposal system shall be cleaned of sludge and filled with clean gravel, chat, sand or other material as approved by the director of public utilities. (Prior code § 9-303)
