15.04.040 Board of appeals.

Section 204 of the standard code relating to board of appeals is amended to read as follows:
Section 204. Board of Appeals. In order to determine the suitability of alternate materials and types of construction and to provide for reasonable interpretations of provisions of the building code of the city, there shall be as hereby created a board of appeals, consisting of five members, who are qualified by experience and training to pass upon matters pertaining to building construction. The building inspector shall be a member and shall act as secretary of the board. The city engineer shall be a member and shall act as chairperson of the board. The city manager shall appoint two other persons who are residents of the city and familiar with the building trades and one person representing the public at large who shall serve for terms of one year from and after their appointment prior to January 1 of each year. The board shall adopt reasonable rules and regulations for conducting its business and shall render all decisions and findings in writing to the building inspector with a duplicate copy to the appellant and the board may recommend to the board of commissioners such new regulations as shall be consistent therewith.
