All occupants and owners of the buildings in the city are required to number or cause to be numbered their buildings respectively owned or occupied by them, according to the provisions of this chapter within thirty (30) days after publication thereof. If at any time hereafter any new building shall be placed or erected along any of the streets of the city, the owners or occupants thereof shall number the same as provided in this chapter for buildings already erected.
