Chapter 15.24 BOARD OF ELECTRICAL APPEALS
15.24.040 Certification.
Any person intending to engage in the trade or business of electrician,
engaging in electrical construction or the installation, repair or
reinstallation of electrical light, heat and power wires, fixtures, appliances,
conductors and apparatus in the city, either as a master electrician, journeyman
electrician or helper electrician, shall first receive a certificate therefor as
provided in this chapter.
Certificates requiring testing, by Block and
Associates as stipulated in KSA 12-1525, shall not be issued until the applicant
has taken and successfully passed an examination as to his or her competency to
do such work.
A. Helper Electrician Certificate. Applicant must submit
proof of employment by a certified and licensed electrical contractor, and pay
applicable fees designated in Section 15.24.060, Certificate
Fees.
B. Journeyman Electrician. Applicant must submit proof of
employment/experi-ence in the electrical industry for a minimum of two years,
and successfully pass an examination by Block and Associates as stipulated in
KSA 12-1525; testing will not be authorized or sponsored by the city without
employment/experience verification. Applicable schooling shall be accepted and
count as three months' employment/experi-ence.
C. Master Electrician.
Applicant must submit proof of employment/experience as a journeyman electrician
for a minimum of two years, and successfully pass an examination by Block and
Associates as stipulated in KSA 12-1525; testing will not be authorized or
sponsored by the city without employment/experience verification. Applicable
schooling shall be accepted and count as three months' employment/experience.
