Any person, firm or corporation intending to engage in the trade or business of plumbing or gas fitting in the city, either as a master plumber or gas fitter or journeyman plumber or journeyman gas fitter shall first receive a license therefor as provided in this chapter. Such license shall not be issued until the applicant therefor shall have previously applied to the city board of plumbing examiners or to the state for the standard examination known as the Block and Associates master plumber or master gas fitter, journeyman plumber or journeyman gas fitter examination, as stipulated through KSA 12-1508 and successfully passed the proper examination.
