Butler County GIS Department—November 14, 2018— Butler County will celebrate GIS Day on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 with an open house and hands-on website trainings.
Butler County has shown innovative application of technology, data collection, and leadership through geographic information system (GIS) technology. GIS Day is an event dedicated to show how geographic intelligence touches everyone on a unique level. Recently, the Butler County GIS Department has improved its distribution of information by uploading subdivision plats as well as the current tax sale map online so they are available 24/7 to the public.

Join the Coutts Museum of Art, along with collector, Stephen Funk, to celebrate the artwork of Herschel Logan at the reception for Prints of the Prairie: Herschel Logan's Kansas. The reception will be held from 5:30-7:30pm on Thursday, November 15, the final day of the exhibit. Light hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be provided.
At 6:30, Stephen Funk will give a short presentation on the life and art of Herschel Logan. Funk, who now owns a collection of over 60 Logan prints, has been collecting and learning about Herschel Logan since 1998.

Every 3rd Saturday of the month the museum hosts Free Family Fun Days for children of all ages and their families. Running from noon to 4 p.m., these events feature a wide variety of crafts, games, and activities on a different monthly theme. While regular admission rates still apply for touring the museum galleries, many of our free Fun Days showcase items from the museum collections for kids to look at and handle, providing a chance for unique hands-on encounters with history, nature, and science.

GCI and the Butler County Sheriff's Department have been working hard the last couple of weeks, gearing up for our 12th Annual Turkey Drive! We will be set up outside of GCI (635 Metcalf Rd.) on Tuesday, November 20th from 8:00am - 6:30pm. We will be collecting turkeys, non-perishable food items, and cash donations are always accepted. With these items, as a company, we construct a list, go to the store, and purchase the rest of the items needed to provide full Thanksgiving meals to the residents in need, with all of your donations staying in Butler County!
If you would like to provide a donation but cannot make it on Tuesday, please feel free to call the office 316-321-5639 and talk to Keri; she can get arrangements made to pick up your contribution.

This newly developed program encourages a preschooler’s natural curiosity and help develop their own journey of exploration and discovery. Through storytelling and art, Coutts’ Caterpillars develop ?ne motor skills, language, cognitive skills, and the ability to listen and follow simple directions while creating their own mini masterpiece each month. This program is FREE for parents and caregivers of children age 2-5 years of age.

El Dorado Charities is again hosting a craft event!
This year we are excited to be able to offer wooden signs! Use these signs as a holiday gift or to spice up your own mantle, home, or front porch.
They are wooden plank signs 12inx36in. We will provide all of the materials required. You can see examples of the signs on our Facebook page! The wood can be either white washed or stained. The picture above is for reference only!
